Vision problems can be a sign of growth hormone disease in adults

The pituitary gland lives in the middle of the skull, bordered by the nerves that bring visual information from the eyes to the brain.Normally about a quarter of an inch in size, even small tumors of the pituitary can press on the optic nerves, and cause significant problems with vision. Pituitary tumors can also cause an over production of GH and are responsible for the symptoms of acromegaly, a disease marked by bony changes in the face, nose, and hands and enlargement of internal organs.
